Marigolds for Tamarinde

This picture is dedicated to my daughter-in-law, Tamarinde, who knows why one can be many & many can be one !

I hope it will always bring a smile to her face & remind her that beauty can be found in the most unexpected places.

  1. Bonjour Khana

What fantastic pièces of work – totally original and unique to you. I love the surreal quality of the chessboard stuff, it is stunning. I am now going off to discover the rest of your blog and looking forward to it enormously.

    Regards

    Dan

    • Wow, thank you Dan, what an amazing comment. I’m really pleased you like my work. Thanks for visiting & looking around. I shall be taking a close look at your blog too :)

      • My school FINALLY was issued approval for a state lisc plate – all the State Univ have them. Since I had a limited number of spaces, “I’m driving a 1997 d/t massive educational debt” didn’t fit – so I chose something that fit the school and my degree.
I’d love to discuss using your “Quarantine” on a future blog site… (I am “blog-challenged” and don’t understand the lisc stuff – so either source it or take my own pics.) But that is a fascinating piece of art!

        • Just noticed your response, sorry. If you want to use “Quarantine” let me know & I will send you the attribution details. It’s very easy to add them to any picture on WordPress, especially with the new picture settings. Thanks for your interest, it’s very much appreciated :)

          • I’d be THRILLED!! Please make your instructions as easy and dumbed down as possible – I’m no techno wiz with the blog site. (We INTJ’s know what we know and know what we don’t know :)
            Thanks so much!

            • When you add an image to your page it will have icons of a ‘Pen’ & an ‘X’ in the top left hand corner.
Click on the ‘Pen’ to open the ‘Image Details’ screen.
Here you can add a caption, choose a size & add various other bits of information.
If you have any problems, please don’t hesitate to ask. I will be happy to help :)

  2. More awesome artwork!! I’m still trying to find time to change things around to use your artwork we discussed earlier – can’t wait! Somehow, one kid moved back to town, one decided to grad from HS, I got 2 horses and a few other things have hit the fan. You know, Life :)
I with I had a smidgen of your artistic talent!

    • Wow sounds like you’ve been having an interesting time. I’m sure you’re just as artistic as anyone. We’re all much too critical of our own art I think :)

  3. Hi, I am doing photography at school and I really like your work, I was hoping you could tell me about your inspirations in photography or about how you got into taking photos. Thank you.

    • Hi Jessie,
I started taking photos when I received a Kodak Instamatic as a gift when I was about 11 years old. I don’t really consider myself to be a great photographer, but I wanted to work with collage & decided that using my own images would be more interesting for me than the usual cut & paste from old magazines.
Finding new images to use has become somewhat of an adventure for me & many works reflect certain days or events in my life. I sometimes have to wait quite a while to find a suitable element to represent something in a work. Often I randomly find something that I never could have planned to & a picture gets completed in an unexpected way.
I guess I’ve become a bit of a hunter lol. I hope this answers your questions.
      Khana :)
