Are you as comfortable in front of a camera as behind one?
Being written about, as well as writing?
Photographers, artists, poets: show us DISCOMFORT.
The simple answer to this – NO!
I don’t mind being written about so much, but I absolutely hate being photographed, videoed or recorded speaking.
Funnily enough I’m happy to be recorded singing & have been featured singing a song, that I co-wrote, on one of my friends albums.
Since creating an online identity I’ve had to get over my photo-phobia & now I’m actually working on a series of self-portraits.
I still don’t really enjoy photos of myself & only approve of about one in every thirty taken, or less.

This is the type of pic I mean.
Here I am looking & feeling decidedly uncomfortable about having my photo taken.
The painful half-smile, the pursed lips, the eyes silently pleading, “Please go away.”
My very cheeks are glowing with discomfort.
My first husband was an artist / musician & loved to sketch me.
I was just as critical of his sketches as I am of photos.
I much preferred it when he wrote poems or songs about me.
So there it is …
… I’m not keen on mirrors either.
Shall I stop moaning now?
🙂
