There has been a settlement of some kind at Farningham since at least the stone age.
There is also a lot of evidence of settlements from the bronze & iron ages.
The Romans liked it there so much they built villas all over the valley.

The image in these signs is taken from the Bayeux Tapestry & is of Wadard.
He was the commandeer of provisions from the locals during the battle of Hastings.
He lived in one of Farningham’s four manors.
