Introducing “ARTZINE”
I will soon be launching , my blog’s new feature “ARTZINE”.
“ARTZINE” is a monthly art feature, where I will be sharing my experiences, thoughts and feelings regarding art. I want to raise some age-old questions, that continue to be asked by each generation as the face of art changes, and look at the new ways in which art is manifesting today. I hope to kick-off some vigorous debating in the process.
We’ll be looking at issues such as :
- Definitions and Purposes of Art
- Ethics and Ownership of Art
- Limits and Directions of Art
- Minorities and Ethnicity in Art
- Religion and Politics in Art
… as well as Art in the News, where I will provide links to articles of interest related to the subject of the month. Each post will end by posing a question or statement indicating the subject of the next post. I’m hoping that readers will be interested enough to contribute their own feelings & experiences. Discussion need not be restricted to art, more inspired by it, and readers should feel free to comment on any issue raised in any way that they feel is relevant.
Readers will be able to contribute in various ways:
- Writing their views in the comments section of the relevant post
- Writing a post of their own on the subject of the month and linking it to the relevant post
- Contributing material which would be featured in the post, and for which they would get recognition.
- Consenting to be featured in a post that is relevant to their art or life and possibly agreeing to be interviewed
- Guest blogging a monthly post on my blog to give an, occasional, alternative feel to the feature .
“ARTZINE” is not just for artists.
You neither need to be an artist, nor an art expert, to experience, appreciate, interpret, or have an opinion about art. You just need to be interested enough to take a look, brave enough to say what you think and open enough to listen to the opinions of others. You may even find your opinions changing as you exchange views with other readers, and you might contribute to changes in theirs too.
We are all artists in one way or another, and finding our way through art can be a wonderfully liberating experience, giving us the opportunity to express some of our deepest thoughts and impressions, freely. Even if you don’t consider yourself an artist you might be surprised at just how much you have to offer, and when you start looking at the many art-forms available chances are you’ll find one that works well for you too.
