If you were an ice cream cone how many scoops and flavors would you be and why?

Another really weird question lol, this time with an equally weird answer.

I’m not a big fan of ice cream unless it’s vanilla & melting, on hot apple crumble, so I made the mistake of asking my husband how many scoops, & which flavours he would like me to be.

He answered …

“648 which is a really nice number.”

“What’s so nice about it?”, I asked.

“It’s   2x 34.”, he answered.

“And so?”, I queried.

“Well that’s  8 x 81.”, he said.

“So you can have either 8 scoops of 81 different flavours or 81 scoops of 8 different flavours,”, I said & then added,  “Probably 8 flavours is easier.”

“Pistachio.” he said, & returned to his maths.

and the moral of that story is …

… Never ask a mathematician when you want a sensible answer.

Are you left or right handed?

Right Handed, I’ve tried to train myself to use my left hand but without much success.

I’m not sure what the statistics are, but I seem to have known, & still know an abnormally high number of left-handed people.

My first husband was born left-handed, but developed the use of his right hand very well due to pressure from nuns at his primary school, who objected to his use of his left hand, as it was ‘unholy’ hand. He was very proud of being able to use both hands for many things, but still had problems with the right hand throughout his life.

My eldest daughter is left-handed, as is my eldest grandson.  I have several close friends that are left-handed & last but by no means least my second & current husband is also left-handed.

Before making a phone call, do you ever rehearse what you are going to say?

If it’s in English & personal, no.

If it’s not personal then yes, I like to be very clear before I call companies or utilities, as often using even one word out of sequence can lead to days, weeks, or even months of chaos, misunderstanding & repeated calls where you have to start at the beginning again every time you need to explain the problem to a new person.

If it’s not in English I like to get prepared before I start, because I hate sounding like a plum, while I’m trying to fumble for words.

How many rings before you answer the phone?

Landline – I don’t answer it. It’ll be in Hebrew & recorded. Either a company advertising something I don’t want or religious nutters after my money.

Mobile – I wait for the phone to ring 3 times before I answer. It’s an exercise in self-control left over from my esoteric school days of trying to expand my consciousness.

I used to have many Pavlovian ‘buttons’, probably due to being raised by a schizophrenic mother, & as they caused me many problems in my life & relationships, I decided that they had to go. I tried several paths & found many of the exercises very beneficial. I’m a much calmer & happier person now.

Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

Grateful for …

It was Mother’s Day on Friday, here in Israel, & my husband’s daughter brought me a single flower with a tiny hand-written greeting. I wasn’t aware of the day & I was totally surprised & delighted.  See above …

I’m also grateful for the endless stream of beautiful roses flowering daily outside my window. So I took some pics of those too.

Looking forward to …

Meeting the newest member of the family. My brother-in-law & his wife became grandparents for the first time on Thursday & I am really looking forward to meeting the new arrival & seeing the glowing, first time parents with their baby son.

Well that’s another week complete!

See you next week

🙂

  1. Wow, that’s a complicated ice cream answer!
I remember at our school left-handed people were forced to use their right hand too. It was awful watching them trying to eat their lunch.
    That’s a lovely rose!

    1. One of my house rules is ‘Keep maths & science out of the kitchen’ – It doesn’t help though lol. I’m somewhat obsessed with photographing the roses. I took loads last year but lost all the pics when my laptop was stolen 😦

  2. Happy belated mother’s day. I’m the math geek in our house. I actually did some radical math numbers yesterday to answers one of Chris’s questions. She kind of told me to shut up. 🙂 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
